February/March 2026 Good Stuff
There’s so much good stuff happening at WFPC!
Please continue to let us know of any “News” you have to share.
News from your Session:
If you need to contact Rev. Brian Copeland: rev.briancopeland@gmail.com, 850-524-4884. Office hours Thursdays 1 pm – 5 pm. Be sure to stop in and visit while he is in the office.
You may view our worship service on the church Facebook page. (Weedsport First Presbyterian Church)
**If you “like” the worship service, it will be shared via Facebook to others!**
Deacons:
If you are interested in being a greeter, or providing refreshments for coffee hour, please sign up on the calendar in the Narthex. (Anyone can be a greeter.)
Christian Education:
Lenten Scripture Study – held Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm in upstairs Sunday School room, through Lent.
Reminder: Adult Bible study is held every Sunday before worship, 9:45a.m., in the second floor Sunday School room.
Worship:
Worship is being held in the Fellowship Hall. We will resume worship in the sanctuary beginning Easter Sunday.
March 22, our friends from Marcellus First Presbyterian Church will join us in worship at our church. In October we will join them in worship at Marcellus.
Mission:
2026 Special Offerings: This year there will be three rather than the usual four special offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS), World Communion Offering (WCO), Christmas Joy (CJO). List attached.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING: We are participating in One Great Hour of Sharing through Lent. There are fish banks if you wish to use them. A Giving calendar is attached. It contains daily reflections and questions. You may consider placing a coin “gift” in your fish bank or a jar and returning your donation on Easter Sunday.
Mission and Impact
OGHS supports both domestic and international partners, addressing urgent needs and long-term development. Contributions fund:
- Disaster relief for communities affected by natural disasters or conflict
- Refugee and displaced persons assistance, including resettlement and advocacy
- Economic and community development, such as microfinancing and women's empowerment
- Health, education, and food security programs globally
Around the world, millions of people lack access to sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity. The work done in support of the causes supported by One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) - disaster, hunger, poverty, climate change, and immigration/migration and refugees -serves individuals and communities in need. This work provides people with safety, sustenance, and hope. Received during the season of Lent (Feb. 18–April 5), each gift to OGHS helps to improve the lives of people in these challenging situations. The Offering provides us a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need. In fact, OGHS is the single, largest way Presbyterians come together every year to work for a better world. Thank you for supporting OGHS 2026.
Our next turn at the food pantry will be May 18th. This is not the usual 4th Monday since that would be Memorial Day.
Food pantry needs: ketchup, brownie mix, canned pasta
We participated in the SOUPer Bowl of Caring, Sunday, February 8th. Even though worship was cancelled that Sunday there were still items donated before and after that Sunday. More food and money was donated for the Seahawks so we once again predicted the winner! Two grocery bags full of food and $50 were donated to the food pantry.
The next blood drive will be held Thursday, May 7th, 12:30-5 pm (please note new hours) at the Methodist Church, hosted by WFPC. If you have time to volunteer, please contact Cyndy Rooker. You can also make an appointment to donate at redcrossblood.org. At the March blood drive, we collected 29 units to meet 100% of our goal.
Loose Change Offerings: We received a thank you from Honor Flight for our donation. Letter attached.
Sennett Federated is having a rummage sale Saturday, April 11th, 9 am-noon. If you have any items to donate, they will be open for drop-offs Monday, April 20-Thursday, April 23, 9a.m.-5 p.m.
