Pastor’s Message:

2 Corinthians 4:1-2

“Therefore, since it is by God’s mercy that we are engaged in this ministry, we do not lose heart. We have renounced the shameful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to falsify God’s word, but by the open statement of the truth we commend ourselves to the conscience of everyone in the sight of God.”

I present this passage for your consideration as we begin the season of Easter. The first verse declares that it is by God’s mercy that we are involved in ministry at all, and so because of God’s mercy we do not lose heart. That is to say, we are to be encouraged through the ministry we do for it is only possible by God’s mercy! Throughout Lent we have been renouncing (repenting) our transgressions so that in front of God and everyone we declare ourselves whole, renewed, and blessed by the Spirit of forgiveness known only through our resurrected Savior, the embodiment of God’s grace, Jesus. Alleluia!

So let us move through this season of Easter confidently renewed as we engage fully into the ministry to which Christ is leading us!

Happy Eastertide,

Pastor Brian

INFORMATION WORTH REPEATING:

(This information will have been in previous newsletters, but it is worth reprinting.)

The “Weedsport Presbyterian Church” has a Facebook page.  Feel free to follow.  There is a link to the webpage in the “Welcome” for an easy way to link back and forth.  Feel free to contact Joanne Slauson (joanneslauson@gmail.com) for any changes and additions on the Facebook page.

If you are interested in being a greeter, or providing refreshments for coffee hour, please sign up on the calendar in the Narthex. (Anyone can be a greeter.)

Now that the church service starts at 11:15 a.m., Adult Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m.  This may make it easier for you to join us in the upstairs Koinonia Room Sunday mornings before church to get some very interesting background of the day’s scripture.  Dan Thomas has a wealth of knowledge to share!
